The New Teachers Health Trust Plan Now Offering a Telemedicine Option for Clark County School Teachers

Teachers will now be able to access care 24/7 from the comfort of their home.

Las Vegas, NV, 1/19/2016: Teachers Health Trust in partnership with WellHealth Quality Care has announced that it will be offering Telemedicine to Clark County’s teachers and their families who are currently enrolled in the Performance Plus Plan. The Telemedicine platform will be powered by MDLIVE and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for medical or behavioral health needs. Providers will be able to diagnose and treat conditions such as the common cold, the flu, fevers, strep throat, conjunctivitis (pink-eye), sinus infections, rashes, and more. In addition, teachers will have access to counselors and therapists when the need arises to talk through everyday stressors and other behavioral health issues.

“This is a huge step for being able to provide teachers with additional access to care,” said Dr. K. Warren Volker, CEO and Chairman of WellHealth Quality Care. “For common and easily treatable conditions that may have sent patients to a Quick Care or the ER, they will now be able to utilize their smartphone or computer when it’s convenient for them to consult a doctor.”

WellHealth Online is a Telemedicine program specifically created for the Clark County School District (CCSD) teachers and their dependents. The program cost is a $0 co-pay through their insurance with the Teachers Health Trust. Telemedicine is accessible online at wellhealthonline.com, through the MDLIVE App, and via phone conferencing for any teachers who may not have access to the internet. Providers such as primary care doctors, pediatricians, OB/GYNs, therapists, and counselors will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Accessing care through Telemedicine is a secure way to see a provider. Personal medical information is only visible to the patient and the doctor during the appointment. Through their diagnosis, patients that may need antibiotics for treatment will be able to receive a prescription from their Telemedicine doctor at his or her discretion.

Although Telemedicine provides ease and convenience to see a provider at a time that works best for patients and their families, it is not meant to replace a primary care doctor, pediatrician, OB/GYN, therapist, or counselor. Telemedicine is meant to provide an alternative to medical or behavioral health issues that may happen during non-traditional hours.

About Teachers Health Trust: Formed in 1983, Teachers Health Trust is a self- funded health trust, which provides medical, dental and vision benefits to all licensed employees of the Clark County School District.
